At Emerald Park Homes, we believe there is a better way to build a home. A more efficient way that’s structurally sound. A way that makes your home not only look good on the outside, but ensures that it’s built to last you a lifetime. We don’t build disposable homes. We have the experience of many years of on-site work behind us to build homes the right way, with high quality materials and building practices and only the best sub-trades and suppliers.
Our staff is well trained in the layout, process and design of each and every custom built home. We work with our customers in a collaborative way throughout the entire build to ensure that the decisions they make will suit their family and budget.
Our homes are built above and beyond the standard building code. That’s why we’re Regina’s first Mike Holmes Approved home builder. You know exactly what you’re getting behind the walls of your new home from the inspection reports and photos and the final certification from the Holmes Approved Home Inspector.
We make the process of building your home personal, we work with you every step of the way to make sure you get the home you want. We care about the quality of your home, that’s why you should care who you hire to build it. In 2014, we partnered with Mike Holmes’ Holmes Approved Program which includes only the best builders nationwide. Our homes are inspected at various stages of construction to make sure they are built to Mike’s stringent standards. We are raising industry standards by building healthier and more durable homes.
With the endorsement of Mike Holmes, our customers receive the peace of mind that only working with a Holmes Approved Builder can offer you.
“I partnered with Emerald Park Homes because we share the same values when it comes to building right, proper construction, and what that means for you and your family. They know what it means to build homes that last for generations—the way we used to build. And they’re a family business. That tells me they care. Because at the end of the day, it’s their name on these homes, too. When it’s your name on the line you stand behind it” – Mike Holmes
Garry Sawchyn started out in the construction industry as a summer job while he attended the University of Regina. In 1980, he bought a truck and a power trowel to start his own company: Apex Construction Ltd. He hired some workers and installed driveways, garage slabs, basement floors and basements walls. Ten years later, he had grown his business to include two framing crews and a basement crew.
During this time, the building industry was very competitive and quite often, sub trades like Apex Construction didn’t get paid on time, or at all. Garry decided to become a home builder so he would be in control of the money and would make sure that not only he would get paid, but all of his workers and sub trades would be paid on a regular and consistent basis.
In Garry’s years working as a sub trade for other builders, he paid close attention to the way houses were being built. He knew a better way to build homes. There were small costs with big pay-offs for the homeowner and he thought it was wrong not to do that wherever possible to make a better built home. He put this knowledge to work with the idea that he would build every home as if it were his own.
In 1991, Garry decided to build a new home for his family. He chose Emerald Park because he was tired of the extra cost for piles, concrete and steel that was needed to build in the Regina gumbo soil. Emerald Park had sandy soil that drained easily and didn’t require extra costs.
The Emerald Park Golf & Country Club was a real draw for city folks who loved golf and were anxious to build along the golf course. The property tax was almost 40% less because there were less services.
In 1992, a mutual friend introduced Garry to a local realtor, Gordon Degelman and together, they started Emerald Park Homes Ltd. Their focus was on building good solid homes in Emerald Park focussing on structure and durability to retain their value for years to come.
Emerald Park Homes commitment to find the best sub-trades and treat them like family has paid off in the long term. They all share the same commitment to quality and excellence and most of them are local family businesses.
Now, many years later, we continue to strive to improve our construction practices and systems in an effort to build high performance, durable, quality homes that deliver superior value and comfort for years to come.
